Sark is situated in the centre of the British Channel Islands; approximately 8 miles east of Guernsey, 15 miles north-west of Jersey and 20 miles from the French coast. With no tarmac roads, cycling or walking are the two most popular ways to get around the island.

The island is beautiful. The coastline is spectacular. The beaches are less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The fishing is excellent. The climate is milder & warmer than the UK - we are closer to the equator!

Sark offers a friendly, informal, community orientated social life focused around the island hall community centre and two popular local pubs. There are a few small sports clubs on the island which include running, Yoga, cricket, football and badminton, plus darts, snooker and pool. There is an active local amateur theatre group. There are several live music events throughout the summer months.

Seasonal positions available for 2020
(7-8 month contract, starting March/April)

  • Chef de partie and/or Commis chef - experience of working in a busy, high quality restaurant or bistro kitchen environment, a positive and energetic attitude, ability to learn quickly, and carry out duties to a high standard, consistently every time  
  • F&B associate - 6 months busy bar and restaurant experience needed, comfortable with seasonal working experience, flexible towards any tasks in a hotel, a desire to be an active member of a hard-working team, have a ‘total hospitality’ philosophy.
  • House keeping assistant - should ideally have previous experience or training. Individuals who can support & assist our head housekeeper, and help to service our bedrooms, (17 superior guest bedrooms / 5 suites / 20 staff bedrooms). Busy, luxury housekeeping and high quality in-house laundry department

Food and Beverage

The food and beverage department in Stocks Hotel is a team that prides itself on its success. We have many opportunities at Stocks every year to excel in what we do and aim to exceed the expectations of our guests at every turn. We have all the tools to enable us to create an experience for our guests that is hard to find in the hospitality industry.

At Stocks we boast one of the best 3 rosette fine dining restaurants in the Channel Islands as well as a 120-cover poolside bistro. We have a busy event business throughout the high season which consists of everything from 120 guest weddings to poolside BBQs to small meetings.


Recommended for 3 AA rosettes in 2018  we make no excuses for the the hard work, attention to detail and a desire to work as part of a team which is needed by our kitchen staff.

Servicing both our restaurant and the poolside bistro from one kitchen the team need to work well together and each individual must be able to support the all others in the kitchen with a positive attitude. There is no room for chefs who are not willing to jump into other sections to get the job done!

All our kitchen team members, whether the head chef, sous chef, C.d.P's or the kitchen porters must have a positive work ethic and a great sense of humour, respect for high quality, fresh and local produce much of which will have been grown either in our own gardens or on the island, appropriate health & hygiene experience and a good working knowledge of English. Our kitchens are spotlessly clean and we expect all staff to be involved in cleaning down each evening.


Since the total refurbishment of our hotel in 2010/11 we have had a total focus on Stocks always looking immaculate, not only to provide a superb guest experience but also as this is a way to control costs by ensuring problems are dealt with immediately. We still redecorate one fifth of the hotel each winter and the housekeeping team keep the property looking superb so every guest feels that they are seeing the hotel newly opened.

The team work together undertaking the housekeeping for the hotel, as well as the laundry for the entire property, and also housekeeping and laundry for the Staff Lodge. We receive fabulous compliments about the standards of cleanliness at the hotel and the team are rightly proud of this, and aim to keep the compliments coming in.
