Future bookings

We are pleased to confirm that we have been able to be open for business, in a limited fashion, from Friday 19th June 2020.

Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, the health and happiness of our guests, our teams and our island community have been at the very heart of everything we do. We were required to adapt, amend, and change some aspects of the traditional Stocks experience. We are currently planning positively for 2021 and a cautious return to some form of normality. We are pleased to confirm the current position at Stocks.

The Island of Sark thankfully remains Covid-free. At Stocks we have reviewed all our hotel health & safety procedures and we have adapted the standards and protocols of protection and hygiene of our hotel to ensure the health, safety and welfare or customers and employees. We will continue to update our procedures according to the requirements of the Guernsey & Sark authorities and inform guests and our employees of any new procedures.

Above all else we want our guests to feel as comfortable, safe and welcome as they would in their own home. We have reviewed all our procedures so you can feel completely relaxed and thoroughly enjoy your stay.

The Bailiwick of Guernsey has opened its internal borders and reduced the social distancing and other restrictions and as such we look forward to continuing to welcome local Bailiwick residents. We hope that it will be not be too long before we also welcome guests from further afield.

For the time being we continue to only take 2020 bookings via direct contact with reception by email or telephone but have now opened up 2021 online and will take reservations from further afield.

To give certainty to our guests we have extended our original rates from 2020 to 2021 with no changes. All of our rates are based on our full deposit rack rates, and then our discounted rates take into account the time of year, our levels of occupancy, the length of the planned reservation and prepayment  and cancellation terms.

We recognise that there is always the potential that the borders may be closed into the 2021 season but equally guests hope to return to the Bailiwick and wish to try and have reservations to look forward to for 2021.

Given the uncertainty, we also need to protect our business and whilst we are willing to take bookings from outside the Bailiwick bubble, we have adapted our cancellation policy to ensure that we do have some protection. Please note therefore the following policy as regards cancellations, whether due to guests inability to travel into the Bailiwick or our possibly being forced to close:

Cancellation policy for 2021 and beyond 

In respect of all reservations, whether deposit only or full prepayment, any payments made at the time of booking are non-refundable. If requested more than 14 days before the arrival date the reservation may be changed to a future date subject to the changed date being within 12 months of the original booking, payment of any price difference at the time of the future booking, and any amount paid at the time of the original booking will be held as a deposit against the future booking.

Cancellation due to COVID-19 restrictions
  1. If we are forced to close and you were due to stay with us, we will offer you the choice of either a full refund, or to move your stay to a date in the future, subject to availability  
  2. If we are open but you are restricted to travel to Sark (whether due to the borders remaining controlled, your being forced to isolate/quarantine, travel disruptions with airlines or ferry companies or for any other reason), we would stick to our standard cancellation policy as above, which means that we will not offer refunds but you can, up to 14 days before arrival, change the date of your stay or request that we keep any amount paid (whether that be a deposit only or any fully prepaid amount on a discounted rate), until you are able to use this credit against a new booking.   This change of date is subject to the changed date being within 12 months of the original booking, payment of any price difference at the time of the future booking, and any amount paid at the time of the original booking will be held as a deposit against the future booking Please note : If you are unable to use the original payment within 12 months of the original date booked it will be lost.

We strongly advise guests to make sure you have appropriate travel insurance which does cover guest’s inability to travel due to Covid restrictions.

We hope that the above simple and clear policy gives our guests the comfort to know that they have options in the unfortunate case of their holiday being disrupted, if we are unable to be open we will offer as one of the options a full refund of any amount paid, and above all that we are open and transparent so you know exactly where you stand. We do look forward to seeing our guests next year and have implemented this policy to ensure that we as a business are able to operate also.
