Please read the following information which gives important details on getting to Sark and the terms of your booking. These terms are applicable to bookings made direct with the hotel. Bookings made through booking agents may be different.
Please clearly label your luggage using the supplied labels. If you need more labels please either request more from ourselves via email or phone, or pick some up from the Sark Shipping/left luggage office in Guernsey. These will help our luggage porter, Mr Jimmy Martin, to identify your bags as they are unloaded. You may safely leave labelled luggage with him.
We strongly recommend holiday insurance to cover both hotel and travel charges. Please ensure that the chosen insurance policy covers all forms of travel delay including adverse weather conditions.
There is no airport on Sark. Most people travel to Sark via ferry from Guernsey. Our travel partners will be pleased to advise about availability and fares and co-ordinate all the connections between the UK and Sark, via Guernsey. Please contact us for further information.
It can be cheaper to arrange travel directly with individual carriers booked via the Internet, but it is important to carefully synchronise the timetables of the various carriers and in particular the transfer times from one section to the next. Please also be aware that some promotional or discounted fares are non-changeable, non-transferable and non-refundable.
Our luggage carters meet all scheduled ferries arriving in Sark. The conveyance of luggage between the Sark harbour and Stocks is complimentary. A supplementary transfer charge will apply if you arrive by private charter ferry.
Upon arrival any baggage labelled for Stocks Hotel can be left on the boat and will be identified by our carters. If you have unlabelled baggage and wish it to be taken by carrier to Stocks Hotel, you should enquire for the “Stocks luggage porter” who will advise and assist.
A passenger ‘tractor-bus’ operates up the harbour hill between the Sark harbour and the village. Stocks is a further 15 minute walk from the village or you may prefer to pre-book a carriage from the hotel to meet you at the village. A complimentary map of Sark can be obtained from the Sark Shipping office when you collect your ferry tickets.
Guests are welcome to arrive in the morning or afternoon. However, we must advise that bedrooms are not guaranteed to be available for occupation until after 1pm.
The hotel tariff shows our terms for bed & breakfast and it is also possible to upgrade to include dinner each evening. No allowance can be made for meals booked but not taken or for failing to take up any component included in the price of your stay. We do not make a service charge. There is no VAT or Sales Tax in Sark.

Stocks is a family hotel. We offer a choice of family suites and other family bedroom combinations. Reduced terms are offered for children who share a family suite with two adults. Children’s early supper can be served between 5.30pm and 7pm for children aged 14 and under. Our table d’hôte dinner and à la carte menus are available in the fine dining restaurant after 7pm for older children.
A deposit of £150 per room is required to confirm a reservation at our standard rates. Special rates and packages will normally require full prepayment at the time of booking.
Hotel accounts may be settled by cash or MasterCard, Visa or Amex credit and debit cards. There are two banks on Sark but there are no ATM (cash point) machines. Stocks Hotel reserves the right to use customer information, including credit card details to collect charges due in case of no shows or any unpaid amounts.

All payments received in respect of any reservations are non-refundable. If requested more than 7 days before the arrival date, reservations may be changed to a future date, subject to the changed date being within 12 months of the original booking and payment of any price difference at the time of the future booking. Any amount paid at the time of the original booking will be held as a deposit against the future booking. Please note, if you are unable to use the original payment within 12 months of the original date booked, it will be lost.

All bookings for packages, special events and any reduced rates have special terms which will be communicated at the time of booking and in the confirmation notification.
Reservations at discounted rates generally require a full prepayment at the time of booking. Please note, if you are unable to use the original payment within 12 months of the original date booked, it will be lost.

Please ask if you would like to bring your dog to stay at Stocks. We have 3 rooms where your pet can stay with you, for which there is a daily charge and we will also take a security deposit to cover the cost of any potential accidents. We provide bowls, mats, towels & cages to make your pet’s stay as comfortable as possible. As we are sure you will appreciate not all dogs are suitable as hotel guests, please only bring pets that will not disturb other residents and which are suitable for staying in a hotel room. Dogs are allowed in the Bistro & Cider Press room but not in the Smugglers Bar, restaurant or other public areas of the hotel.
Ambiance & dress:
The general ambiance of Sark is relaxed and informal, and dress is, accordingly casual. However, the ambiance of Stocks in the evening is informal but ‘smart casual’ and most guests like to dress appropriately.
Luggage is collected at 8 am or 9 am for morning departures and 1 pm for departures thereafter. We request that bedrooms are vacated by 10.30 am on the day of departure.
